Children in Tampa are being escorted to school as the fear of a serial killer on the loose hangs over the city.

In the Seminole Heights neighborhood of Tampa, three people were shot and killed. Taking place within a 1-mile radius of each other police believe that the murders are related.

Fox News reports that each of the victims were regular bus passengers, who didn’t know each other and rode alone.

Two weeks after the first shooting, police still do not have any concrete evidence of motive or an idea of the suspect. Residents in the area have grown concerned for their safety.

Causing business owners to see a drop in customers after the attacks.

“We don’t open the door or nothing. A lot of people are scared. I’m scared for my son, for the neighborhood, “says Maria Malonado who is afraid to let her 7-year-old son play outside.

Local store owner, Majed Forhaa owns a carrier permit for a handgun that he has with him at all times. When he closes his shop down for the night he carries it as he walks home.

On Monday, October 23,2017, police officers began escorting children to school for their safety. Parents debated sending their kids to school as a killer is on the loose.

Mayor Bob Buckhorn has informed people that the city of Tampa is taking extra precaution in dispatching officers all over the city at all times. He also said that the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives are on the case as well.

The victim 22-year-old Benjamin Mitchell was first killed on October 9, 2017. Two days later 32-year-old Monica Hoffa was killed and then on October 19, 2017, 20-year-old Anthony Naiboa was killed.

“There aren’t a lot of facts, or evidence, yet, but it’s not for lack of Tampa Police Department trying. We literally have put bodies out here by the dozens. We’re going to find this guy and we’re not leaving this neighborhood till we do,” explained Buckhorn.
