RZA has partnered with portable speaker company Boombotix to release a previously unheard Ol’ Dirty Bastard track titled “Obey Me.”

The Wu-Tang Clan frontman initially came across the song in 2010 while he was digging through old files on his computer. Originally titled “Bitches Better Obey Me,” the song was produced by RZA and Wu collaborator Buddha Monk in 1994, according to Rolling Stone.

Now, though, RZA has revisited the track, made a few adjustments, including changing the title, and decided to bless the public’s ears with some never before heard ODB material.

The producer recently caught up with Rolling Stone to discuss the origins of the song.

“We were recording his first album [Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version] and he was in the studio having a good time and recorded the song,” RZA says. “He was fuckin’ buggin’ out on this song that night. Dirty felt that anything he made was supposed to be released. I was more critical of what we released. And even though some people may listen to his first album and go, ‘Shit, this is crazy, this song fits right in.’ To me, there was a method to the madness of what we did. And with the stuff that didn’t make the album, there was a clear reason why in the narrative of what I was striving to create with his style.”

In addition, RZA and Boombotix have let producers High Klassified and Shash’U remix the track.

To hear the original song, along with the High Klassified remix, you’ll have to get your hands on a limited edition Boombot REX speaker. They’re available through Boombotix.com and Zumiez stores.

The video for the Shash’U remix features Ol’ Dirty Bastard Jr., as well as a special cameo appearance from Shash’U himself.
