As hard as it is to consider Michael Ealy as a stalker, that’s just what actress Sanaa Lathan has to deal with in The Perfect Guy, in theaters this Friday, September 11th. In the movie, Lathan has to deal with the repercussions of leaving her fine-ass boyfriend Morris Chestnut, who doesn’t want to commit, for a fine-ass new man, Michael Ealy, who turns out to be a deranged stalker. Maybe they should have called the move A Story Of Contemporary Dating but we digress.
The still single Lathan says that first of all, there’s no perfect man.
“I don’t think anybody is perfect. I think that just by nature people are imperfect, but I do believe there is a perfect match.”
There’s a whirlwind romance, bathroom sex and the whole nine but of course when it’s going good, in order to make a movie, something has to go wrong. In Lathan’s life, though, things are going well. The actress has enjoyed a two-decade career but says that the many love scenes she’s done over the years with folks like Wesley Snipes and Denzel Washington haven’t fazed her.
“I’ve been doing this for so long,” she says. But when asked whose sex scenes were the best, she has nothing but praise for her current onscreen co-stars. “Neck and neck, Michael Ealy and Morris Chestnut.”
As far as what she’s looking for in a man, Lathan says that there’s a combination of qualities, but there are a few at the top of her list.
“You’ve got to have a sense of humor, you’ve got to have confidence. I believe age is a state of mind. If you lined up my boyfriends, you’d see that I don’t have a type. I really love them from the inside out. I have to love who you are.”
Offscreen, Lathan says that she’s a pretty simple woman, despite a glamorous occupation.
“In-between jobs, I don’t feel like a movie star. I have a real life, I have real problems and I have real friends,” she says.
