“I’ll be honest with you, one of the things that popped for me in the first season was Curtis,” says Courtney Kemp Agboh, (pictured, with Jackson) the creator and show runner of the Starz series Power.

Curtis, as in Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, also serves as an executive producer on the show and appeared occasionally in Season 1 as Kanan, the jailed ex-mentor of main character James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick).

Season 2 begins this Saturday, with Kanan out of jail and ready to snatch his crown back from Ghost and his partner Tommy (Joe Sikora).

“This season there’s so much Kanan that popped for me, and I was like, ‘Okay, we’re going to make this season the season of Kanan. We’re going to disrupt this relationship and put a third party in there and see what happens.’,” Agboh told the TCA in January. “So for me, that was one of the things that was really, really big and really shifted the energy of the show this year.”
