While approaching his pending free agency, Detroit Lions linebacker Ndamukong Suh was rumored to desire a warm weather destination and no state taxes. Barring a breakdown in negotiations, Suh will accomplish both en route to joining the Miami Dolphins and becoming one of the NFL’s highest paid players.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports Suh will agree to a six-year, $114 million deal that includes $60 million guaranteed for the first three years when the new league year officially begins on Tuesday, March 10.

“On Tuesday at 4:00, they have to finish the contract details,” Mortensen wrote. “But when you have parameters like that, my sources have assured me Suh is going to sign that deal with the Dolphins.”

The 28-year-old Suh is regarded as one of the leagues best defensive players, having averaged 7.2 sacks per season during his career with the Lions. He’s also drawn attention for being penalized for multiple unsportsmanlike plays including a 2013 low block against the Minnesota Vikings, stomping Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rogers in 2014, and kicking Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub in the groin.
