Lee Daniels and the executives over at Fox must be doing the Shmoney dance right now after Empire once again came out victorious in the ratings last night. The Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson hip-hop soap opera netted 11.07 million in total viewers and a whopping 4.4 in the coveted 18-49 demo for its third episode.

The Hollywood industry is just in awe of the freshman series’ rise. But what is the big deal over the show’s ratings? Judging by the reactions online, viewers are obsessed with the show (as am I).  According to critics, new television shows first episodes are primarily the highest-rated. Ratings generally dip for two weeks or so and then regain and hit a nice little stride for the remainder of the season.  In Empire’s case it just keeps on going up each week.

Can you blame viewers? Who can’t get enough of Cookie Lyon (Taraji) just laying into people like the G that she is? Or watching Lucious (Howard) bring the streets back into the boardroom? Don’t believe us? Watch the juicy clips above and below to see what everyone’s talking about.

Empire airs Wednesdays at 9 PM EST on Fox.
