Former NFL star Darren Sharper is awaiting trial for multiple rape and drug charges. And things aren’t looking in his favor as new evidence emerges.
People reports a nine-count indictment from Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office alleges that Sharper, who retired from the NFL in 2011, sexually assaulted two women who were impaired at his New Orleans apartment in 2013. Bail on those charges has been set at $2.5 million. Also named in the indictment was Sharper’s friend, Brandon Licciardi, 32, a deputy with the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office, who resigned in December, 2014.
According to Rhymes with Snitch, in a pre-trial hearing for former St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s deputy Brandon Licciardi, an investigator testified that Licciardi admitted he had been warned by several NFL players attending a convention in Las Vegas that the drinks had been spiked with what Liccardi referred to as ‘horny juice’ and that he had text messages from Darren Sharper that read, “She’s on the potion. She’s ready.”
Also, Licciardi told investigators in a pre-trial hearing he introduced Sharper to a sports bookie who passed him off to Russian mobsters for larger bets.
Nevertheless, Sharper lost $25,000 to the Russians. Then, he refused to pay up, and they proceeded to look for him. Uh oh! Not only is it bad he had the mob looking for him, but this evidence could put him in deeper trouble.
