Another story about fledgling R&B singer Jeremih and another reason to believe dude’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Maybe it’s his stage name. Ok, maybe not. But there’s something cockeyed about that name that … well, that’s a story for another time. Right now it’s his actions and the people around him that are in question.

Jeremih and his boys found themselves in police custody after his bodyguard opened a door of a US Airways plane to let him and another musician on after they missed the boarding call, authorities said.

Here’s the deal via the NY Daily News:

Jeremih, 27, whose given name is Jeremy Felton, and musician Adam Woods, also 27, had passed through security, but missed the 1:45 p.m. boarding call for their US Airways flight to Phoenix, according to Port Authority spokesman Joe Pentangelo.

With some of his entourage already on the plane, Jeremih reached out to his bouncer, Dontate Cunningham, 26, who opened the plane’s rear door — which was already closed for takeoff — for them.

Port Authority police were called and took all three men into custody without incident.

The Def Jam recording artist and Woods were charged with obstruction of the administration of law and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors. Cunningham was charged with defiant trespass, officials said.

Jeremih was obviously running late after a concert in New York City and was on his way to a gig in Fresno, Calif., which is why they were desperate to make the flight.

As we said at the top, this isn’t the first time the “Birthday Sex” singer found himself getting attention from the authorities. Earlier this year Jeremih and his crew were arrested in Billings, Montana of all places for causing a ruckus at a local Fuddruckers.
