The Saudi Arabian study took 94 participants who in total had 180 canker sores, and split them into three groups. Each participant was instructed to wipe their lesion daily after each meal for eight days or until it was completely healed. They also recorded their pain levels throughout the timeframe of treatment.
Those who used honey were pain free after just two days versus the other groups who experienced pain for eight days. The size and inflammation of the honey group sores were also greatly reduced in a shorter amount of time.
