As we previously reported, a casting call announcement was recently posted for the N.W.A. biopic “Straight Outta Compton” and the descriptions for the women that the casting agency was seeking out was beyond disrespectful to the African American community.

According to Gawker, Universal is now fully aware of the public’s outrage over the casting call.

Allow us to refresh your memory about what  Sande Alessi Casting posted.

We still throw up in our mouths every time we read that trash of a casting call notice. Apparently, Universal Pictures must understand how we feel or dare we say…they agree with us, because they just put out a statement concerning the train wreck of a description.

Says Universal,

“The filmmakers … did not approve and do not condone the information in this casting notice. We regret and sincerely apologize for being in any way associated with the offensive descriptions it contained.”

The casting post is no longer on the FB page of the Sande Alessi Casting company however, their website still has audition information for the biopic posted on it.

Universal has not said if it is still working with the casting company or not.

We think the most shameful part of all of this is that the movie is about Hip Hop culture, black life and all that is incorporated within it yet, Sande Alessi Casting apparently felt that we weren’t good enough to be depicted in our own story. This is not only unacceptable it’s deplorable.

Black women of ALL shades, flavors and hues are GORGEOUS! No matter if their hair is purchased or if they grew it from their own heads… they are spectacular period!

And for the record…the next time someone scoffs at “Black Girls Rock“, please remind them of this story and why there is still a need to celebrate black women. Because we don’t exactly see any other ethnic groups being singled out and put down this way year after year. Just saying.

The most ironic part of all of it is that the group N.W.A. railed against stuff like this! Who would have thought in a million years that people trying to work on a movie featuring them wouldn’t know better?!

Our overwhelming rejection of this movie by not spending our money to go support it is the only response necessary! Dollar bill y’all…!

In other words, “We’re sorry we offended you but we are still going to use and financially support this racist company because we know even though you’re mad, you will still support this movie.”

I would like to see the day in America when people of color would stop supporting Hollywood , by paying to go see these super hero movies. Hollywood should be making movies with people of color hero’s past and present like George Washington Carver , Eldridge Clever , Bobby Seal, just to name a few, the list goes on .

  4. Black Americans are racist & rapist & murderers like any other people..You complain about the white man but who can bring up charges against you? Huh?! You promote same sex marriage just like white folk you do the same things! No wonder why that 18yr old boy molested a 11 yr his eyes he sees just another boy..But you ADULTS will & should receive the same condemnation as that 18 yr old boy..Because you promote on BET & all your secular shows…Gay lifestyle & Same permitted young people need only a license called 18 in order to practice it! Hypocrites!

Fuck you Alberta. Take your white fucking self to your white KKK website. Nobody wants you here. You are not welcomed.
I can’t stand fucking white people. They are all racist, childmolesting boy lovers.
Alberta you stoled my people from there paradise and you brought them here so you can rape us and force us to work for you. All you are is nothing but a beast. you are not even human. You are a decendant to the european cave apes. Everything you have you stoled from my people. And you have the nerve to call us racist.
Everyone knows that it was the whites who promoted homosexuality in order to further the destruction of the black family. YOu tried to keep us from learning of the truth of our heratiage. You tried to breed us out by sending us your white women to steal men from our community.
      Fuck you Alberta.

Correction: the black slave trade was ran by dark skinned muslims. Every slave auctioned off was done so in the dark skinned muslim slave markets. Today you can by a black slave from a muslim.

  5. Can’t believe we’re revisiting this ‘S’ in 2014. Uuuuum….we’re not beyond this yet? With all the violence going on in parts of (SOME) Black communities in Chicago, Detroit, Philly, Baltimore, etc. ….this is not what we need to see right about now!!!

I would like to know who the person was that wrote the actual casting. Who is it. Did they get fired? The story is incomplete the reporter lazy. Instead of just telling us this part you should have done some digging to see who it was that actually did this so we can get them removed from hollywood. They don’t need to be there they don’t need to be employed.
My first guess is that is was some skinny white homosexual male who was in charge of this.

    • Thomas on said:

If a skinny European American homo was involved in this situation he would have been exposed. You can bet this was a black boy behind this, because his identity is not. This is another black on black coverup.

NWA was “disrespectful to the African-American community” so, why wouldn’t Universal’s casting call be? This is not an issue. Where were the black production companies when it was time to make this film?
