05/05/14 –
Let’s be real.
HBCUs are under a microscope and have been for a while now.
The constant scrutiny and questions surrounding the relevancy of our institutions and low retention and graduation rates often overshadow the rich history and cultural achievements graduates from HBCUs have achieved.
It certainly feels good to have an international corporation like Home Depot not only support our institutions by word of mouth, but also showing an enormous amount of financial support as well.
The grant money received from the Retool Your School program will definitely aid in improving the conditions of our illustrious campuses and facilities.
The Tom Joyner Morning Show spoke to Melissa Brown, the Marketing Manager at Home Depot about the history of the contest and to announce the 2014 winners of The Retool Your School Campus Improvement Grant Program.
“This is our fifth year and we’ve given out close to a $1,000,000. This year our total is $255,000, so good job job everyone,” Brown said.
