According to Eben Gregory, Wu-Tang Clan affiliate Shyheim Franklin has reportedly turned himself over to New York law enforcement after allegedly being involved in a fatal New Year’s Day hit-and-run where Felipe Avila a 29-year-old from Tompkinsville was killed.

Reports claim Shyheim may receive a felony charge for leaving the scene of the fatal accident last week.

Shyheim who is a Wu-Tang Clan affiliated rapper once worked with hip hop’s biggest names. He is now standing accused of  driving the car that was involved in a hit-and run crash.

Police Sources say,

Shyheim surrendered himself to police today in connection with the 5:07 a.m. crash, which killed Felipe Avila of Tompkinsville, and is expected to face a charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident, which is a class D felony.

Sources are also reporting that on the morning in question, Avila was headed to work at the Rosamaria Bakery on Vreeland Avenue in Port Richmond, NY driving a black 1996 Toyota Celica on Lafayette Avenue. Franklin, meanwhile, was driving east on Cassidy Place in a 1996 Volvo S80. Shyheim allegedly ran a stop sign and slammed into Avila’s car, then hit a parked Dodge Ram before getting out of the Volvo and running away.

Sources said Franklin left blood in the Volvo and on the driver’s side airbag.

Shyheim was out on $10,000 bail at the time of the crash, awaiting further prosecution activity for his April arrest on gun and drug possession charges.
