Rachel Jeantel Piers Morgan Interview

All around the Internet, blogs are reporting that we watched a “new” Rachel Jeantel, last night, on CNN’s “Piers Morgan” show, when in actuality we were just watching the real Rachel Jeantel– a typical 19-year-old, funny and charismatic when not under the pressures of being under oath.

Jeantel, make her first appearance in the media after she testified as the prosecution’s star witness in the case of her 17-year-old friend Trayvon Martin. Jeantel was the last person to speak to Martin and was on the phone with him when he was confronted by George Zimmerman. She heard Trayvon say “Get off, get off” as if Zimmerman–neighborhood watch captain–had grabbed him. Though her testimony was chilling and a case-sealer for some, it failed to win over the jurors, who acquitted the vigilante of second degree murder and manslaughter.

Jeantel granted Piers Morgan her first interview (outside of the court system) and cleared not only her name, but that of her dear friend Trayvon’s.

She said he was a “calm, chill, loving person” and said she never saw him get “aggressive” or “lose his temper.”

Her thoughts on Mr. West

“When the state closed they’re trying to explain what kind of person I am. And you can see the kind of person I am,” she explained. “Out of the whole stand I never cussed out Don [West]. Even during our little back – since March.”

“I’ll hold it back. The only reason I have not said anything to Don Weston [sic] because my parents taught me better. As an adult you don’t have the right to disrespect an adult,” she explained. “Don’t curse – okay I did give attitude.”
