The Divas Take New York 'R&B Divas' [RECAP]

On this episode of “R&B Divas,” the ladies were still contemplating the possibility of going on tour together, despite all of the drama they went though on last week’s episode. This week, the girls were off to New York in hopes of leaving some of the drama behind them, but we all know with a group of singing divas, drama is never too far behind. Check out what happened below.

The Divas In New York All of the girls headed off to New York to get work done but also have some fun in between. Keke brought her manager/husband along for the trip and of course before the couple could even make it to the hotel they started their usual argument over responsibilities and business deals. Keke snapped on her husband saying, “nobody told you to be my manager!”

Yikes! Meanwhile, Monifah was celebrating her birthday in New York and preparing for an upcoming showcase. Faith visited her step daughter, T’yanna Wallace, Biggie’s daughter, and taking her around Brooklyn to visit her dad’s old apartment. Everything seemed to be going well for the girls so far in New York, but of course the peace with these ladies never lasts too long.

Strange Emails

Although Syleena didn’t make the trip to New York, she was still causing a bit of drama back home. Nicci received an email about the diva’s tour and she is immediately furious. She didn’t want Syleena to be their spokesperson and didn’t want to be apart of the tour.

Later in the episode, Nicci showed the website to Angie Stone who told the ladies that they should figure out the truth before they got upset. All of this drama was reminding LaTocha why she wasn’t sure about joining the crew. After all, LaTocha was already apart of an all girl’s group, Xscape, and she wasn’t in the mood for dealing with divas all over again at this stage in her career.

Monifah’s Showcase

Finally, it was time for Monifah’s showcase. The girls were excited because they thought that cheering on their friend and celebrating her birthday would bring some calmness to the group. When Monifah took the stage, she blew the crowd away! It’s obvious that this girl was born to be on stage, and she hasn’t missed a beat!

She called the girls on stage with her to do an impromptu version of her hit, “Touch It” and the divas killed it. The high from Monifah’s showcase didn’t last long as the drama soon caught up with them. When she met with Faith a few days later to discuss the drama brewing about the tour, Faith admitted that her lawyer sent a cease and desist letter to the Johnson sisters and Monifah revealed that her manager would do the same. Well it doesn’t look like this drama will end any time soon. SMH.
