Singer Lauryn Hill, who pleaded guilty last year to tax evasion and will be sentenced next week, is now wanted by her landlord after she reportedly stopped paying rent on her South Orange mansion. According to TMZ, she’s been given an eviction notice.

As previously reported, the former Fugees member was charged with failing to pay taxes on $1.8 million in income in 2005, 2006, and 2007. She could face prison time, but in court papers filed earlier this month, she asks for probation, saying it would be easier to pay back the money she owes if she could work.

She also explained that she didn’t pay her taxes as a result of her general withdrawal from society “due to what she perceived as manipulation and very real threats to herself and her family.”

Hill is raising six children, five with reggae scion Rohan Marley. The sentencing hearing is Monday.

  1. I’m extremely inspired along with your writing abilities and also with the layout in your blog. Is this a paid subject or did you customize it your self? Either way stay up the nice high quality writing, it is rare to see a great weblog like this one today..

  2. I think we all know why lauryn Hill disappeared from the music industry, she was well into what was happening with her album Mis-education of lauryn hill, she was well aware of what they wanted her to be. I do not think its funny to LOL, because she does have children.she just completely dropped out of sight,, and we all know why!. So please don’t think this is funny. that is why most of our good singers have passed on. and have passed away so horribly. so be careful who you laugh at be-careful who you ridicule. you never what kind of position your going to be in. GOd is listening and he is watching. and hears everything even what your thinking.
