Sandra Bullock has never been shy about the love she has for her 5-year-old son Louis.

But with that love comes great concern as she discussed Louis and her family during an interview for the November issue of Glamour magazine, which she graces the cover and hits newsstands on Oct. 13. Regarding Louis, who is black, Bullock shared a life-long desire to protect him from all the negativity in the world.

“You see how far we’ve come in civil rights — and where we’ve gotten back to now. I want my son to be safe. I want my son to be judged for the man he is,” she said about Louis, whom she adapted from New Orleans. “We are at a point now where if we don’t do something, we will have destroyed what so many amazing people have done.”

“You look at women’s rights; it’s turning into a mad, mad world out there,” continued Bullock. “But sometimes it needs to get really loud for people to say, ‘I can’t unsee this.’ If I could ride in a bubble with him for the rest of his life, I would. But I can’t.”

Louis’ arrival in Bullock’s life was something she called the “greatest gift.” So much so that it forced her to get her “sh*t together.” The 51-year-old entertainer’s Glamour magazine chat comes amid recent unconfirmed reports that she has finalized her second adoption process with a baby girl.
