If you’re lucky enough not to experience the worst of fall and winter weather, count your blessings. That means heading out to a fall concert or show should be a lot easier than the folks in Ohio and upstate New York will have it if they check out R. Kelly this weekend. He’s among the R&B artists on the road this fall, a list that also includes Trey Songz who just celebrated his 28th birthday this week. If your plans include staying by the couch instead, there is plenty of college and pro football as well as some good movies. Get some popcorn and put your feet up. Monday’s here before you know it.

TJMS PICK: “ Sparkle”

If you missed it in the theaters, here’s your chance to avoid the sticky floors and people answering their cell phones and enjoy “Sparkle” in your own home theater i.e., your living or bedroom. The remake of the 1976 movie starring Irene Cara now has Jordin Sparks in the title role as the aspiring singer. A few things have changed since the original, but Tika Sumpter, Sparks and Carmen Ejogo ably handle the girl group requirements. Mike Epps changes course for a rare dramatic role as a comedian whose personal life is far from funny. Whitney Houston is solid in her final role, a bittersweet end to a stellar career. “Sparkle” is available for purchase or download November 30th.
