Bobby Brown has pleaded not guilty to a charge of drunk driving in California.

Whitney Houston’s ex-husband was arraigned in a Van Nuys court Monday morning, where he faced three misdemeanor counts for a DUI, driving on a suspended license and talking on his cell phone behind the wheel.

Brown did not appear in court for the hearing and his plea was entered by his lawyer, Tiffany Feder.

A pre-trial hearing was set for May 16.

Brown was arrested on March 26 after he failed a field sobriety test. Commissioner Rebecca Owens ordered him to abstain from drinking alcohol until his next court date.
