Celebrity makeup artist Sam Fine says that the biggest mistake a Black woman can make is going without makeup.
In a recent interview, the Fashion Fair Creative Makeup Director shared that women of color lose the opportunity to enhance their beauty by not participating in the makeup process.
“And I think a lot of [women of color] are scared that makeup is going to make [them] look fake, ‘It’s not gonna look like me, they’re not going to have my color,’ Fine explained.
Fine later added that Fashion Fair is closing the gap on limited shades for Black women by adding 19 shades to their liquid foundation this July.
“And if you look at that, that’s not a range that’s broken up for general market vs. African Americans. So you really are getting a wealth of coverage options and colors,” Fine said.
The makeup guru provided 5 simple must-haves for women who are not fans of having a full face of makeup.

Beauty starts from within. I wouldn’t say it’ s a MUST… but if you want to enhance…a little mascara & gloss never hurts….
IF anything, make up is unnecessary. Women should feel beautiful without it.
Sam Fine is just a shallow man.
Ladies can absolutely choose not to wear anything to “enhance” their beauty. But I don’t think it is about changing who you are or who GOD has made you to be. No more than it is for you to wear accessories/shoes to go with an outfit or lotion for the times when our natural skin gets dry. If these things, including some powder or gloss makes you feel good outside as well as inside, then go for it!!!! and…it is ok to ask for advice if you are not sure how to apply…..
I am appalled at this story…..look who this person works for. . a makeup company. When sisters choose to not wear makeup, that is becasue we represent NATURAL Beauty. You know, the one that GOD blessed us with.
