Emmett Till

Following Jussie Smollett's real-life prison sentencing last week after being found guilty of staging a 2019 hate crime hoax, his former TV mom Taraji P. Henson decided to defend the disgraced actor by calling for his release and using the sad case of Emmett Till as an example for her reasoning.

After a century that saw over 200 attempts to ban lynching get denied, Congress has finally enacted the Emmett Till Anti-Lynching Act that's currently en route to President Joe Biden for officiation.

The gruesome 1955 lynching of Black teen Emmett Till ignited a civil rights movement led by his mom, Mamie Till-Mobley, and now both will soon be recognized by the Senate for their pain & suffering after a bill was passed to posthumously award them with the Congressional Gold Medal.

On Sept. 2, the Emmett Till Center discovered another historical marker paying tribute to the slain-teen was tampered with as the sign had been toppled over.

Famed actress Whoopi Goldberg is set to co-star and produce a film about Emmett Till’s unfortunate 1955 lynching, but plans to do so by telling the tragic tale from the perspective of his mom, Mamie Till-Mobley.

The film will also follow Mamie Till Mobley and her fight for justice for her son.
