1. Saba & No ID – From The Private Collection of Saba and No ID

Today, RIAA gold-selling Chicago rap virtuoso and Pivot Gang leader Saba and GRAMMY® Award-winning super-producer and the “Godfather of Chicago Hip-Hop” No ID release their powerhouse joint album, From the Private Collection of Saba and No ID via ARTium Recordings/Pivot Gang Records, LLC.

Earning early praise from Complex, Vulture, HipHopDX, Brooklyn Vegan, and more, From the Private Collection is indisputably one of the most anticipated releases of 2025. The union of these hip-hop heavyweights evolved from an initial mixtape to an expansive 15-song project, resulting in a record that will resonate with rap fans across generations.   

For Saba and No ID, the process of making From the Private Collection of Saba and No ID was long, involved, and not always linear. Beginning life as a mixtape, it entailed mountains of demos, months of reconsideration, and even a hard reset. Yet when the time came to push the button, there was no hesitation. From the Private Collection of Saba and No ID is the sort of record rap fans across generations adore: technically dazzling but thematically dense, irresistibly kinetic even as it dives deep into Saba’s psyche. 2. Nafeesisboujee – Part Time Thing

The 19-year-old singer, songwriter and producer Nafeesisboujee returns with his insatiable new single “part time thing” today. Capturing the hearts of the young generation across the globe, Nafees’ music blends palpable introspection with vibrant, infectious melodies pulling from indie-pop, rap, electronic elements and beyond, solidifying his place as one of today’s most exciting young voices to arrive in music today – all while in college. 3. Nettspend & xaviersobased – Impact

Today, teenage rap phenom Nettspend rings in his 18th birthday with “Impact,” a bleary-eyed victory lap of a single featuring his friend, collaborator, and current tour opener xaviersobased. Listen HERE, and get tickets to the INVERT TOUR HERE.

The new release follows Nettspend’s buzzing appearances at both Rolling Loud California and Paris Fashion Week. The polarizing Virginia star made his runway debut walking for Miu Miu, making headlines in GQ and The FADER and picking up additional coverage in The New York Times and HIGHSNOBIETY.

Over a grimy yet chiming jerk beat, the duo trade blurry verses detailing the perks and stressors of living life in the fast lane. Nettspend bursts in with his impressionistic best: “Built it from the floor, I took off the whole ceiling / Party in the building, party in the building / I almost there, so, you can have my children / Running up the stairs trying to make it to the feelin’.”

Ranked among “Gen-Z’s most promising class of musical innovators” (FADER) and “the vanguard of underground rap” (Rolling Stone), Nettspend has steadily been captivating fans across the internet with singles like October’s “F*CK SWAG” — which came with a Cole Bennett-directed video HERE — while serving up an endless stream of collabs with peers like OsamaSon and xaviersobased. BAD ASS F*CKING KID was an all-new set of distorted beats and woozy rap, featuring production by Kenny Beats, EvilGiane, OK, Reklus1ve, Bobby Raps, Carter, and more. 

BAD ASS F*CKING KID led Pitchfork’s “Albums You Should Listen to Now,” which praised “his narcotized mumbles and ad-libs [set] to dizzy production.” Stereogum shouted out the Grimes-sampling “Skipping Class,” while others praised “Beach leak” with its Jersey club beat. And FADER reviewed, raving that, “Nettspend’s strongest traits are on clear display here: an ear for beats that can keep up with his manic flows, a melodic instinct that can suffuse even the most trite one-liners with moody pathos, and odd turns of phrase that poeticize boilerplate images and ideas […] He sounds tortured and ambitious and ecstatic and delirious all at once.”

4. mgk – your name forever

Today, multi-platinum-selling, Grammy-nominated superstar mgk releases a heartfelt tribute, “your name forever”, for his fallen friend, Dingo, who tragically passed away two weeks ago.

Directed by Sam Cahill, mgk’s performance atop a rooftop overlooking Hollywood Hills is a poignant expression of his pain and heartache over Dingo’s passing. The stirring tribute finds mgk in front of a larger-than-life mural of Dingo, a powerful visual representation of his enduring memory, painted by highly renowned muralist Royyal Dog, who is best known for capturing the essence of his subjects. Along with the moving performance, fans can see footage of Dingo, which best highlight his exuberant personality and fun nature.

The song features background vocals from M. Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold, Oli Sykes of Bring Me The Horizon, Mod Sun, and lead guitar from Synyster Gates of Avenged Sevenfold, all of whom were friends of Dingo.

5. GELO ft. GloRilla – Can You Please

Maintaining incredible momentum, buzzing gold-certified rapper GELO (LiAngelo Ball) uncovers a slick and sexy music video for his rising new anthem “Can You Please” featuring multi-platinum superstar GloRilla out now via Def Jam Recordings. Watch HERE.
 
The clip sees GELO and GloRilla take over a strip club. The visual reasserts GELO’s superstar-size presence and charisma on-screen in every frame. There’s a reason he’s become the year’s hottest new rapper.

Anticipation for the track started when GELO teased it at the end of the “Tweaker” music video,  his brother, Chicago Bulls star Lonzo Ball, went on to hype the track on social media, generating further buzz. Jastin Martin, the trap-soul singer-songwriter, producer and emerging soulful voice from Houston, Texas, unveils a hypnotic new single entitled “You Or Nobody” featuring Timbaland out now via Def Jam Recordings. It marks her first collaboration with the legendary four-time GRAMMY Award-winning producer.

The song revolves around a thick and thumping beat evocative of Timbaland’s instantly recognizable and inimitable classic style. Her vocals perfectly match the timing of the track’s bounce, floating in and out of focus. 7. Wale – Blanco

Today, Grammy-nominated rap legend Wale has made his highly anticipated return with new single “Blanco”. The single is out now, available on all digital streaming platforms via Def Jam Recordings. LISTEN HERE

8. Liamani – Hanging By A Thread

16-year-old singer, songwriter, and actress Liamani unveils an unshakable and undeniable new single and music video entitled “Hanging By A Thread” out now via Def Jam Recordings. Listen HERE. Watch the music video HERE.

Steady claps set the tempo for the track as a warm bassline thumps like a heartbeat. Against this breezy backdrop, Liamani flaunts her vocal fireworks once again, alternating between breathy verses and a dynamic crescendo. Thematically, she wrestles with the uncertainty of a turbulent relationship. The emotion overflows on a chantable chorus, “Cuz we’re hanging by a thread, but I’m still holding on to you…Every story has to end, but I don’t want it to be true.”

9. Real Bad Man & Willie the Kid – Maxwell's Peacoat Collection

LA-based producer Real Bad Man announces a new collaborative album with Michigan rapper Willie the Kid. Midnight will be released March 28th via the producer’s own Real Bad Man Records label, and includes guest appearances from UK rapper Sonnyjim, New York’s Lord Sko and frequent RBM collaborator Boldy James. Coinciding with the album’s announcement, Real Bad Man and Willie the Kid are sharing the album’s lead single “Maxwell’s Peacoat Collection.”

“We began the project like a digital sound board, focusing on wherever the production led,” Willie says of the process of making this album with Real Bad Man. “I think where Adam and I agreed upon is that the standout records were all themes for the night, late night drive, after-hours dinners, shopping, private rooftop hotel suites, it’s a thinking album, a cruising album preferably enjoyed at night…midnight”

Midnight marks the early stages of a prolific run of collaborations for Real Bad Man, building off of the momentum he sparked last month with his first full-length album with ZelooperZ, Dear Psilocybin, which The FADER called “clear-eyed and focused in its own fantastical way”. Working as a duo with the dynamic lyricism of Willie the Kid after the psychedelic sounds of Dear Psilocybin, Real Bad Man returns to the essential underground beatmaking that he first emerged onto the scene with through his On High Alert series. His crackling, lo-fi production pairs perfectly with Willie’s gritty delivery, laying a foundation for the longtime lyrical stylist who has worked alongside some of the genre’s modern heroes including Nas, Lil Wayne, The Alchemist, Roc Marciano, Curren$y and more.

Real Bad Man is the production moniker of visual artist and designer Adam Jay Weissman. A designer and visual artist first, he made his foray into music through his On High Alert series of imaginative, multi-generational compilations, which have featured the likes of Roc Marciano, ROME STREETZ, Pink Siifu, Maxo and more. In the years since, he’s partnered with some of hip-hop’s most talented and adventurous artists on full-length projects, refining and shaping the trajectory of some of rap’s most exciting independent artists, and expanding the scope of his sound even further through new and unexpected collaborations in 2025.

10. Lou Phelps – Is My Mic On?

Montreal’s rising star, Lou Phelps, who’s bringing a fresh wave of energy to the hip-hop scene has released his latest single, ‘Is My Mic On?’ It is the second look into his highly anticipated sophomore album, CHÈLBÈ, set to drop this spring.

Produced by his brother, Grammy-winning producer KAYTRANADA, “IS MY MIC ON?” hits with raw intensity and a magnetic dance-floor pull, blending rap with house beats to create a bold, genre-defying anthem. 

Lou is known for his effortless flow and genre-blending sound, drawing from his Haitian-Canadian roots and influences from hip-hop, house, and jazz. No Savage delivers his signature hard-hitting flow over a Tay Keith and Hitmaka beat as he reflects on his self-made stardom and journey from nothing to something. With bars about “perfecting his craft in a basement” to securing bags and traveling the world, No Savage declares that label validation is only a bonus when you already feel like you have made it.

12. Danny Singh – WYD?

15. Dreamer Isioma – FInd Some Space

Today the first-generation Nigerian-American singer and songwriter Dreamer Isioma revealed their highly anticipated new album StarX Lover slated to release on April 4th. 27. Aaryan Shah – Do You See The Birds Too?

28. John Splithoff – Far From Here

Today, John Splithoff, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and enigmatic musical collaborator has released his highly anticipated album Far From Here via Virgin Records. John released an official music video for the title track – watch HERE.

On the release of the new album John said: “Change is the main theme of this album. There’s been so much movement in my life the past few years that I often forget to take a step back and consider how much has changed. Working on this album at my home and in hotel rooms on tour across the world made me look at this music differently. The record is a lot like looking through an old photo album – reminding me of who I was, who I am, and gives me some inspiration for who I hope to be going forward.”

This week, American Songwriter, spoke exclusively to John about the new project and premiered the music video for “Kyoto Snow,” a ‘70s-inspired track Splithoff wrote following a trip to Japan with his wife. They discussed making music for the love of it and “not trying to really prove anything”, John’s comparison to artists from “Teddy Swims to John Mayer to Boz Scaggs” and the unique concept behind the album.  

“Once I got the words ‘Far From Here,’ I just felt like there’s a concept in that,” Splithoff explained exclusively to American Songwriter. “Having gone through all this change with moving out here [to LA]… I could see how there was a concept in the making of place and time and how these places hold significant memories for me and inspiration.” John stated, adding, “A lot of the songs on this record just come from a place of searching for inner peace. I think there’s different chapters on this record and different colors. It kind of takes you to different places in 45 minutes. I hope it just brings peace to somebody.”

On Far From Here John has drawn on classic soul, pop, jazz, and R&B, showcasing one of the most soothing and soulful voices of his generation, with arrangements often focused on his voice and just piano/guitar, a sound he wanted to recreate after performing the tracks solo on tour. Mostly self produced by John, his voice and musical approach recalls the icons of music from Michael McDonald to Sade, as well as its more celebrated innovators like Benny Sings and Mk.Gee. John was raised in a music-filled home in the suburbs of Chicago and developed a deep appreciation at an early age for the timeless sounds of Stevie Wonder, Pink Floyd, Earth, Wind & Fire, Fleetwood Mac, these cornerstone influences shaping his unique musical identity. He had piano lessons and received his first guitar at 13, teaching himself to play through obsessively exploring the music of the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s. The catalyst of his music career began in high school when he was passed over for a spot on the baseball team, and auditioned for a vocal group on a whim. 

From there he started writing songs, performing in bands, leading eventually to a degree in Jazz Performance from the renowned Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. He moved to New York City after crafting a 5 track EP in Chicago, not so subtly entitled The Move. Playing his first gigs around the city he wrote and recorded a first crop of singles while teaching private lessons, performing at weddings, and singing commercial jingles. This led to the eventual release of his breakout single, “Sing to You”, which changed his life. The track amassed over 150 million streams, landed on key Spotify playlists, and led to John hearing his music played in public for the first time. He witnessed his music climb to the top of AC Radio, alongside landing international headliner spots and festivals. 

Despite all his industry success John has remained an enigma and prevalent behind the scenes collaborator, preferring at times to support the musical efforts of offers, in sacrifice of his own.  He has performed with some of the great artists of our time, from Sting, George Benson, Ben Folds, and jazz trumpeter Chris Botti on the David Foster-produced single “Paris.” 

He had to figure out what would come next. So John made a big decision—actually, a series of big decisions. He traveled around the country, playing his own headlining shows and opening for the likes of Andy Grammer, Gabrielle Aplin, Ben Rector, MAX, and performing at Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo in 2018, navigated Covid lockdown in NYC  before he eventually moved to Los Angeles a few months later in 2022. He has continued touring non-stop, bringing his soulful pop style to such high-profile shows including an opening slot for Teddy Swims in 2024. 

And from all of this change, exploration, confusion, and excitement came a rush of inspiration, which became the backbone of John’s new album Far From Here. 

Far From Here reflects on his dramatic life changes while told through vignettes capturing poignant personal memories. On “Far From Here” Splithoff examines his search for a new perspective with his New York to LA Move. “City Days” which features Chris Botti on trumpet, pays homage to his relationship with New York City at the various stages of his life. Tracks like “Glacier” symbolize relationships growing apart against the backdrop of Montana’s natural beauty, while “Oh Betty” tells a nostalgic story about the Buick Century he drove during his college days in Miami. “Same Page” recalls a transformative camping trip in Arizona that inspired his move west, and “Kyoto Snow” transports listeners to Japan, where he saw snowfall for the first time at a temple in Kyoto. 

Far From Here also draws on his shifting family and friendship relationships which he holds so dear.  “A lot of these songs are associated with a time and place that hold a lot of meaning to me,” he says. “I also noticed, within all that change, how my relationships ebbed and flowed—I felt closer to people I didn’t know as well, and I felt distant from people who I considered my best friends and family. So it’s been an eye-opening path.”

Out of the turmoil and disruption, the uncertainty, the ups and downs of the last few years, John Splithoff emerged with a transformation in his attitude and his approach. With Far From Here, he is now perfectly poised to make his musical mark and his striking and evocative album is set to be one of the most celebrated of 2025.

The song’s slick keyboard loop and bouncy throwback beat nod to classic hip-hop as the MC lyrically strolls down memory lane. Filmed in his hometown of Philly, the video, directed by ETS Films’ Bradley Rudiger Hart and produced by Luke Risher, delivers a raw, gritty visual experience.

35. JayDon – I'll Be Good

With a stage-honed dancing ability and a god-given vocal talent, JayDon is one of R&B’s most promising young stars. Today, the 17-year-old prodigy announces his next career move, as he signs with mega, the new label founded by USHER and L.A. Reid, as a joint venture with gamma. A former child star himself, USHER’s co-sign is a major endorsement of the young artist’s talent, while L.A. Today, the Union, NJ-born multi-hyphenate shares “32nd Floor,” a sultry new single. 38. Supa King Big Pope ft. Tay Monney – Tell On Me 3

In the weeks since his 2016 song “Tell On Me” ft. Kevin Gates unexpectedly surged to viral prominence, Supa King Big Pope has been making the most of his second chance. Today, the Huntsville, AL veteran keeps the train rolling, calling up Texas diva Tay Money to contribute a new verse “Tell On Me 3.” Following up Supa King’s original verse and hook, Tay Money transforms the song into a dialogue, as she displays fierce loyalty to the select few lucky enough to give her what she needs and provides a definitive answer to the question in the viral hook: “If he beat that p**** I’m not gon’ let him leave/If he beat that p**** up, I’ll show his b*tch receipts!,” she spits. Tay Money’s remix follows “Tell On Me 2,” Supa King’s initial remix, which featured a fiery guest verse from Fredo Bang.

“Tell On Me” earned its improbable second wind earlier this year, after a series of TikTok trends spurred the song to #1 on the Billboard TikTok Top 50 chart earlier this year, where it stayed for two weeks. “Tell On Me” first started to percolate in early January, with a airplane-themed CapCut trend that allowed users to flex their creativity. The trend truly took off later in the month with a viral dance trend, in which creators on TikTok suggestively dance in bathrooms, or on doors, as Supa King poses a sincere question about the ethics of kissing and telling. The trend has since spread significantly, with celebrities like Steve Lacy, Finesse2Tymes, Coi Leray, and even pets attempting the trend. Red hot Chicago rapper Babychiefdoit recorded his own remix of the song, racking up over 500k views on YouTube. Even Kevin Gates himself has tapped in. This week, “Tell On Me” reached a new milestone, as it surpassed 2.5 billion short-form video views across platforms, with over 1.3 million video creations to date, and tens of thousands of streams per day. The song is still generating over 400k video creations per week, with tens of millions of views every day, behind a new camera-switching trend that picked up steam on TikTok earlier this month.

A fixture in Huntsville, Alabama–a city with a rich rap tradition–for more than two decades, Supa King Big Pope started his career in his teens as a member of Slowmotion Soundz, a collective best known for “Lacs & Prices,” a collaboration with a pre-fame T.I. After legal troubles repeatedly derailed his momentum over the years, Pope dedicated his life to providing for his family and uplifting his community, but he never stopped making music. When he learned from his nieces that his song was trending on TikTok, Supa King took the news as an unexpected blessing, and a long-delayed onramp for him back into the rap game.

As the latest taste off the forthcoming 6-track EP, “Good Grief” lands in the wake of the recent fan-favorite “21,” which Jenna shared in celebration of her 21st birthday, and her 2024 hit “Roses” has amassed over 619 million views across platforms and nearly 50 million streams to date. Following its success, she went on to drop a collaborative version of the track featuring Nashville singer-songwriter Avery Anna.

45. B.U.G Antman – Y'all Ugly

Today, rising Atlanta artist B.U.G Antman unveils the Y’all Ugly EP, a psychedelic and groove-steeped trip through the aspirations, anxieties, and indulgences of a budding rap surrealist. Listen to the 8-song set HERE via Warner Records.

The immersive project is Antman’s most hypnotic and colorful yet. The tracks zoom through sticky soundscapes, surprising samples, strange interludes, neon highs, and shadowy lows. Our hero is effortless with both melody and rhythm, tumbling bars, and perfectly placed ad-libs. 

On the previously unheard “Tortoise,” Antman rides a dark wave of gravity-free synth and skittering drums. Amid the unnerving atmosphere, his voice stays low to the ground, gravelly, as he stays focused on his grind: “One in the air, I’ma pop out this s— like a tortoise / Never seen a drought, I ain’t never seen a shortage / Bought it full price, I ain’t never seen a mortgage, whoa.”

Antman shared a message to accompany the EP:  “I know the title is a bit confrontational, but there’s a simple explanation! To me, accepting being ugly is analogous to accepting yourself fully and freely, warts and all, because regardless, ‘u gotta love yourself’ — u.g.l.y.”

Sure enough, Y’all Ugly is often focused on winning but also unafraid to explore dark themes. Antman previewed the EP with a pair of singles: “145 mph,” a woozy celebration of fast living that also tapped into the cost and coping that comes with the territory; and “Make Sense,” a lush cut that champions self-expression, intense focus, and getting money. The latter came with a visual rollercoaster of a video (HERE) and transfixed tastemakers upon arrival. Billboard put the song on their “R&B/Hip-Hop Fresh Picks of the Week.” VIBE plugged it on “New Hip-Hop to Ride Out To.” BET highlighted the single in their new music roundup. And Dirty Glove Bastard professed, “The psychedelic track showcases his magnetic charisma and innovative artistry.” 

Before that was the vibrant “Meltdown” and its appropriately drippy video (HERE). Throughout, though, Antman has continued to serve his fans — known as the “Colony” — a steady stream of music and visuals across his various social accounts, underscoring his outsized charisma, otherworldly talent, and commitment to world-building. Over the past few years, he’s crawled his way to the top of the new Atlanta scene, developing his singular approach across a series of projects including Goats on a Cliff (2020), Trap Infested (2023), and I See Colors (2023).

Today, rising Irish folk band Amble return with new track “Swan Song,” the latest off their forthcoming debut album, Reverie – out May 23rd via Warner Records! The poetic tune has already been buzzing on socials, with more than 17 million views across platforms.

47. Michael Marcagi – Follows You

Continuing to make waves this year, breakout singer, songwriter and celebrated storyteller Michael Marcagi unveils an introspective and nostalgic new single entitled “Follows You” – listen HERE via Warner Records. It heralds the arrival of his upcoming Midwest Kid EP, arriving April 18.

About the song, Marcagi commented, “I’d say one of my biggest red flags is not dealing with my problems head-on.
