Once dubbed as the “First Lady of Song,” and the “Queen of Jazz,” Fitzgerald’s unparalleled vocal ability influenced other great vocalists like Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin and Diana Ross. Fitzgerald frequently collaborated with Louis Fitzgerald and Count Basie. She died on June 15, 1996 from diabetes complications.
