Regina King has been sprinkling her magic in the entertainment industry for decades. From her TV debut on 227 to landing roles in Boyz n the Hood, Seven Seconds, If Beale Street Could Talk, and more, Regina’s artistic versatility remains unmatched. As she spreads her wings into other entertainment sectors—from directing to producing—it’s clear that her love for the arts never wavers.

In addition to the award-winning actress and director’s many accomplishments, fans have been enamored with Regina’s undeniable charm and beauty. The seasoned screen queen is eternally youthful at 54 years young with a face card that doesn’t decline and a toned body. The longtime Vaseline ambassador takes pride in practicing healthy skincare.

We recently caught up with the Shirley actress to discuss her spring skincare routine, her admiration for Vaseline’s latest line, Radiant X, and navigating menopause.

Regina King says her spring skincare routine focuses on maintaining balance.

Every beauty maven knows that once the seasons change, your skincare and body care routine should follow suit. Regina understands the importance of maintaining hydration without compromising your skin barrier as winter transitions to spring.

“From lotions to creams and oils, I love to mix,” Regina exclusively tells HelloBeautiful. “Right now, the Vaseline Radiant X Firm & Restore Body Lotion ($10, Amazon.com) and the Replenishing Body Oil ($10, Amazon.com) are perfect for the spring. It’s not too heavy, but it’s not too light. There’s a fine balance.”

Sun protection also plays an integral role in her beauty regimen. Despite the age-old myth that Black people don’t need sunscreen, the actress encourages people of color to protect themselves.

“I don’t play with sunblock anymore, but I wish I had known and understood that I needed to have that mentality always,” she admits. “I did not start being diligent about wearing sunblock until the past five or six years. I bring my sunblock to set so they can put it underneath my makeup and reapply when I’m outside.”

Now that Regina knows better, she champions spreading awareness about proper skincare practices. Since 2020, Regina’s Vaseline ambassadorship has opened her eyes to how the brand is bridging the gap between Black and brown folks and dermatologists.

“They’re putting people of color in contact with dermatologists who are of color,” she explains. “The brand is part of the initiative to better educate white dermatologists about the needs of people of color.”

Regina King Menopause

At 54, Regina admits it’s tough “watching your body change,” especially “when you feel invincible in your 20s and 30s.” We all know that Black don’t crack, but the beauty has recognized the importance of giving herself grace as she starts a new journey: menopause.

“I see my skin changing,” Regina says. “My body and my muscles are getting tired. Menopause… it’s a trip. Looking in the mirror and seeing the changes makes you feel a certain way, but finding out what genuinely makes you happy is key to aging gracefully. I think I’m lucky that we’re talking about body changes in women more now.”

Regina now finds comfort in knowing that the brand she has grown up with continues to elevate with her—through all of life’s changes.

“This is one of the fantastic things about Vaseline, specifically the Radiant X line,” she says. “Not only is it speaking to where I am in my life’s phase and addressing those changes, but it’s also a line developed specifically for brown and black skin. Here’s the brand I’ve known all my life—thanks to my grandmother—that’s actively creating products that speak to where I am and who I’ve always been.”
