It’s been 33 years since the world was first introduced to Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas of iconic R&B trio TLC, who just last month (February 25) celebrated the anniversary of their quadruple platinum-selling debut album, Ooooooohhh… On the TLC Tip.

In the three-and-a-half decades since, we’ve seen them gain even greater success with the release of four more albums, lose immensely with the tragic 2002 death of Left Eye and push forward proudly as a touring duo that always carries on the legacy of their fallen sister in song.

Thankfully we got Chilli to join us once again on “My First Time” with a timely story of when she first recognized that TLC would become the legendary group they’re noticed as today.

Ironically enough, it all started with a photo much similar to the throwback flick seen above. Chilli sets up the scene as an early photoshoot that both T-Boz and Left Eye showed up late for. Not only did the moment show her that sisters will squabble, it also gave insight into their natural chemistry together that even translated in the promo shots. It was enough to let her know they would be a force to be reckoned with, and one look at their classic debut album cover is enough to show us that Chilli understood the assignment.
