Beyoncé's SirDavis Now Available For Purchase Online & Beyond

The announcement of SirDavis, the new whisky brand from Beyoncé Knowles-Carter in collaboration with Moët Hennessy, stirred the senses of both fans of the Houston superstar and whisky lovers alike. Today (September 4), which also happens to be Beyoncé’s birthday, SirDavis is now available for purchase online and at select retailers and the brand has a new cocktail to celebrate.

SirDavis was inspired by Beyoncé’s great-grandfather Davis Hogue, who was a farmer and was known for making strong moonshine for friends and family during the time of Prohibition. As we’ve previously shared on CASSIUS and our brother site Hip-Hop Wired, Hogue would hide bottles of liquor in trees for his loved ones to find later as the practice of producing adult beverages was outlawed.

Under the watchful guidance of Dr. Bill Lumsden, a Master Distiller who has worked for famed whisky brands of great renown, helped the SirDavis team bring the vision to life with a mash bill of 51 percent rye and 49 percent barley which was later finished in sherry casks. And while inspired by the Cowboy Carter superstar’s love of Japanese whisky, her brand is produced and distilled in her home state of Texas and headquartered in Houston.

We haven’t tried SirDavis ourselves but hope to rectify that soon and share our first impressions with our readers. Until then, we’ll share the recipe for the Honey Bee cocktail below.

Honey Bee

Ingredients:

2 oz SirDavis Whisky

.75 oz Lemon Juice

.5 oz Honey Syrup*

Garnish: Honeycomb

*To make honey syrup, add 2 parts honey and 1 part water into a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the honey is dissolved. Allow to cool and transfer to an airtight container.

Instructions: Add liquid ingredients to a shaker tin with ice going in last. Shake for dilution and pour into a coupe glass. Garnish with honeycomb.
