Casual fans might not realize how many conscious songs Prince made that dealt with issues of racism, social justice and other prevailing societal issues. This is one of them.

Louie Louie recorded this song for his album Let’s Get Started, but Prince’s unreleased demo of it has been circulating online for some time.

Prince told Damaris Lewis that he wrote the song with her in mind, but it’s about his appreciation of the talents of Black artists of all kinds.
