“God bless friend. He was a good friend of mine,” said Alivin Toney. He was a close friend of Mack how back in the day produced his first album Project: Funk Da World and his Get Down Mix.

Toney recalls visiting with his friend just a week earlier when he saw him at the Overcomer Ministry church he attends in Walterboro. There Mack was working on filming a documentary on his life and his decision to drop fame for a life in Christianity.

“I wanted the world to know the talent he had,” expressed Toney. “It was something I wanted people to enjoy, but it was cut short because he was very religious and wanted to go to church.”

Mack had revealed to Toney that he was sick. “He was prepared for whatever comes, to go home to the Lord,” explained Toney.

Mack leaves behind his wife and two adult children.

The famous emcee aspired to be like LL Cool J  when Hip Hop was on the rise. That’s when Diddy met Mack and saw the talent in him. The two met in a Manhattan club Mecca where Diddy promised to sign Mack if he freestyled to Mary J. Blige. The rest is history as Mack’s talent helped to launch Diddy’s Bad Boys Entertainment label.

Mack’s first hit Flava In Ya Ear featured Diddy and The Notorious B.I.G. Diddy credited the two talented rappers as the foundation of his record label.

Diddy has not commented on the death of his friend.

News of Mack’s death garnered love and support from fellow New York rappers who knew his music well. No doubt that again the world of Hip Hop has lost another great one.

R.I.P TO MY MAIN MAN CRAIG MACK ANOTHER GREAT ONE GONE….

Rest In Peace C Mack. Man these brothers are croaking out young. ODB, Fat Boys, 2Pac, Biggie, Heavy D, Big Pun, Pimp C, Dolla, Trouble T, Chris Kelly, Nate Dogg, Big Bank Hank, Jam Master Jay and on and on. That’s off the dome. I didn’t even name the ladies; remember Left Eye. I don’t want to be memorialized with a tribute until I live to be a 100. A lot of these folks are not making it half way.

True. The ones left have moved on to other things in their lives. But we still have the memories because their songs still play on the radio and make you move and remember where you were when they came out. good times lol
