It happens every time there’s a natural disaster and each time it’s hard to take in how heartless people can be.

Victims of hurricane Harvey are experiencing theft of new electronics and appliances that was donated to them or that they’ve had to buy after experiencing so much lost.

ABC 13 reports burglars have been praying on Houston families looking for new items to take for themselves.

“I think it’s worth getting the word,” said Patricia Gassman to ABC 13. Her parents’ home was broken into in Houston. “Their goal was to get back in by Thanksgiving and now they’ve been burglarized.”

Thanksgiving the season of giving and a chance to really reach out and help people is being ruined with selfishness the exact opposite.

“It’s a shame. It’s a shame that people are taking advantage and re-victimizing the victims,” explained Gassman whose parents lived in their Houston home for 44 years.

Break-ins have been happening all over the city as Houston police have reported a number of theft cases.
