A Tennessee man will not be charged in the shooting and killing of his 18-year-old son.

WSMV news reports that the Metro Nashville Police Department made its decision after a meeting with the District Attorney’s Office on October 29, 2017.

Police say 55-year-old Brentnol James shot and killed his son, Kobe Hoyle on October 29. James claims that his son was going to rob him and that he feared for his life.

The two engaged in a heated argument in front of their home. When things got physical, James suffered an injury to his face that caused him to shoot his son in self-defense.

According to police, Hoyle died at the scene.
