Jordin Sparks didn’t take a knee while singing the national anthem at Monday night’s game between the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals in Glendale, but she did have bible verses strategically visible on her hand that made it clear where she stands on the issue.

Scribbled on the back of her hand gripping the mic was “Prov. 31: 8-9.”

From the Book of Proverbs, the verses in question read, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

Many on social media thought the 27-year-old “American Idol” champ was using the Word to take aim at Donald Trump for not doing more to support people of color and those struggling in the United States.
