Straight off of his Hope & Redemption Tour, Common brought his social activism to the stage of a prison in California.

The rapper took a trip to the Folsom State Prison to give a concert and inspire hope with his Imagine Justice project.

Photos of Common’s trip were posted on the Imagine Justice Instagram as part of the Faces of Mass Incarceration photo series.

The photos show the men kicking back and enjoying the concert from the Chicago native. There are even photos of Common going into the crowd to meet inmates.

On Instagram, Common wrote a heartfelt post about his performance saying, “I’m blessed to have the opportunity to connect with my brothers inside Folsom State Prison and perform for them to inspire them and spread a message of hope, redemption, justice, love, and compassion.”

Common recorded his four-day prison tour in a YouTube series called The Hope & Redemption Tour. This gave viewers a chance to see and hear the stories of the many men and women behind bars.
