Rev. Al Sharpton: How Does DACA Affect Black People?

Dismiss

Rev. Al Sharpton talks about Donald Trump’s decision to cut the DACA program.

DACA was a program set in place by President Obama to protect the kids brought to the U.S. at a young age from being deported to a country they have no idea of.

But this doesn’t just affect Mexican people it affects Black people as well.

The Rev. explains, “This is somehow just for Mexicans. But there are many from the Caribbean and Africa who are affected by this. Let’s not act like this does not affect us. Donald Trump has so far done everything against people of color. He pardoned a man who was convicted for racial profiling in the middle of Hurricane Harvey.”

DACA was set up as a temporary fix by former President Obama. DACA is a two year renewable protection program for the Dreamers. Under DACA there is no provision for the Dreamers to become US citizens. The program was first rescinded by the Department of Homeland Security. DACA is a merry-go-round for Dreamers with no stop for citizenship. President Trump is correct in telling the Legislative Branch – Congress to come up with a comprehensive law to end the merry-go-round. Again DACA was a temporary fix executed by former President Obama – it is time for a permanent law that ends the merry-go-round limbo for Dreamers.

  3. Africans sold us into Slavery & to this day have not Reconciled or Apologized to African-Americans for selling us into slavery; our brothers from the Island look-down on African-Americans with their superiority complex & the Mexicans, as a whole are anti-Black. Therefore, I hope ALL of them are sent back to their native lands.
