Here’s one of those “awwww” stories that quite frankly is needed from time to time to remind us that we as humans do care for each other even when we don’t know each other.

Here’s an example. Rapper Big Boi (of OutKast fame) gave a puppy to a little girl who was paralyzed from the waist down after being shot while playing in a bounce house near Atlanta earlier this year.

According to WSB-TV, on Thursday, August 8, 2017,  Big Boi presented Miss Abriya Ellison with the pup bred from his kennel business. As you can see in the video, Abriya is fond of the little guy, which she named King.

Abriya, who just finished three months of intense therapy, fell in love with the service dogs at the hospital.

Now, she has a doggie to call her own. One that her mother, Andreauna Douglas, said will help her recovery.

“She’s been asking for it for the longest and I know that a puppy that she can take care of and now she has a responsibility, it’s going to do nothing but help her,” said Douglas.

“I’ve been born ready for a puppy,” Abriya added.

Big Boi told the station that the dog is “something therapeutic” for Abriya. He says the girl is “definitely inspiring” and her story touched his heart.

“There’s nothing like having a companion of a service dog or something therapeutic that you can love on (and) that can love you back,” Big Boi added. “She’s been through a lot, and to see how strong she is now, that was just … very inspiring. It just touched our heart, so we’re just trying to do what we can to help.”

The rapper (whose real name is Antwan Patton) also has agreed to pay off Abriya’s medical bills and renovate her bathroom to make it handicap accessible.
