Our Underground recapper has moved on to another gig, but we want to keep the Underground recaps happening. However, for this week at least, we are going to give it over to our friends over at Vulture to handle the recap of Season 2, Episode 7 episode “28.”

Check back next week for the latest update as Underground Season 2 heads to its exciting conclusion. And stay posted – WGN has announced that they are cancelling Outsiders, their most popular show, and the fate of Underground‘s Season Three has yet to be announced.

Although it’s a hit on social media, ratings are down 34% from last season, according to TVseriesfinale.com. A change in top management and a potential sale of WGN’s parent company, Tribune Media, have left the fate of Underground up in the air, although the network says it’s still “deliberating.”

Here’s a statement from WGN:

After three years of investing in marquee, brand-defining dramas, WGN America has successfully expanded its audience, its reach, and its presence in the minds of viewers. In our next phase, we intend to expand our original and unique content to continue growing our relevance and appeal to the widest possible audience.

To achieve this, we will be reallocating our resources to a more diverse programming strategy and to new structures, enabling us to expand both the quantity and breadth of content aired by WGN America. This move is designed to deliver even more value to our advertising and distribution partners. To free up the resources to reach this goal, we will unfortunately not be renewing Outsiders. We are grateful to our production partners at Sony Pictures Television and the terrifically talented people who made the show possible.

If you want to see a Season 3 of Underground, hit WGN via their social networks.
