Thursday, March 9th marks the 20th anniversary of the death of Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace, and his murder remains unsolved. But the rapper’s mother believes she knows who is responsible.
“As a family, we’ve collectedly grieved and it doesn’t ever get any better for us. Any mother who has lost a child knows exactly the devastation I feel, it’s the worst pain in the world and one that I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy. He was so young, so talented and his life was taken far too soon. It’s unnecessary that Christopher lost his life at just 24.
He was my baby, and I think about him every day.“When it comes to the anniversary of the passing of his death, I don’t really like to talk about it. I know there will be a few tributes in honor of Christopher, and that’s great he’s still remembered, but it’s very tough for me and my family.”
Biggie’s ex-wife Faith Evans, who has a son with the later rapper, says in a new interview that she will not have closure as long as his killer is still on the loose.
“Aside from the criminal case itself, I don’t think that’s so much as something to heal from,” Evans said in an interview on Thursday. “He’s not here, so that’s never going to change. The criminal case is something separate. I wouldn’t say we have closure.
We just decided not to continue paying money to make them admit that they know what happened, basically. No, I mean, there’s no closure in that sense but we just have to move on and live with the great memories of Big that we have. That’s really all we’ve been able to do.”
Faith also said his voice will live on via a new record she is putting out to honor his legacy.
