Extra’s” AJ Calloway caught up with Nick Cannon at their H&M studios in Times Square, where he commented on ex-wife Mariah Carey’s split from James Packer.
When asked if he has spoken to her since the news of her breakup with Packer, Cannon said:
“Yea. It’s all love. You know how that is. I think the media comes up with all this speculation and stuff, but everybody is keeping it moving… that’s what it’s all about.”
Just before the split became public, Nick and Mariah spent time together at her annual Halloween party with their twins Monroe and Moroccan, who was DJing. Nick joked, “He was literally rockin’ the party till midnight.”
Though Carey is making headlines for her broken engagement, Cannon is no stranger to being part of the news cycle. He said …
“Man, you know how it goes. It’s just like it’s something new every day. The news cycle is always something for some reason, I’m constantly in it. It doesn’t bother me because I don’t really, I don’t feed off of it — I’m an open book. Someone asks me a question, I answer it but I’m not really trying to dig in too deep. Things are always movin’ and groovin’, but as long as we are rooted in love and family, that’s the most important thing.”
Cannon was on hand to promote his new project, “Why Real Is Rare,” which explores modern love and “why people value relationships and diamonds and the correlation between the two of them.”
For the project, Cannon, who describes himself as a “hopeless romantic,” was able to sit down with six couples. He said, “I was trying to get in and understand why they’re together, why they feel like this is the real thing. Everyone has a different story and love is different for everybody.”
Cannon also shared the most romantic thing he’s ever done for someone.
