Wedding bells are on the horizon at “Orange is the New Black.”
Samira Wiley may no longer star on the Netflix series, but the actress is now engaged to marry series writer Lauren Morelli.
The two met and fell for each other on the set of the prison-based program, where Wiley starred as inmate Poussey Washington and Morelli has served as a staff writer.
On Tuesday, the happy couple took to Instagram to share the news with a picture of them smiling, and Wiley sporting an engagement ring.
Morelli was married to TV writer Steve Basilone when she began writing for “OITNB,” but in May 2014, Morelli wrote an essay for Mic about how working on the series made her realize that she is gay and in love with Wiley.
“I was nervous about the first love scene I’d written for Alex and Piper. I’d loved writing it, loved watching a tenderness emerge in their relationship where passion always seemed to be the ruling principle, but by that time, I was so deep in my own self-doubt that I constantly felt like a fraud,” she said of writing for the show’s two main characters. “I was sure it was bleeding into my writing. How could it not? I was married to a man, but I wasn’t straight.”
Wiley can currently be seen in season 3 of FXX’s “You’re the Worst” and will be a series regular on the upcoming Hulu series, “The Handmaid’s Tale.”
