Fans outraged that Foxy Brown and Lauryn Hill were left out of the recent all-female “VH1 Hip Hop Honors” salute has caused one of the slighted emcees to speak out.
Taking to Instagram Wednesday, Brooklyn rapper Foxy Brown first made it clear that she is only responding because of the “overwhelming outcry from fans everywhere.”
“I Awoke This Morning, To Our Fans Across The World’s TRENDING Outrage At (Reality Show Network) @VH1’s Non-Inclusion Of LAURYN HILL & FOXY BROWN,” she wrote.
She went on to express her appreciation for the other ladies who were recognized: “Whether The Contribution Big Or Small I Applaud.”
“Personally, I’d Prefer Being Held To A Much Higher Standard In My Walk,” she said, citing her key to the city of Brooklyn among the accolades she holds dear.
“Therefore, Humbly Speaking The CALIBER Of HONOR I’d Aspire To Are Those “UPPER ECHELON”. After All Guys This Is VH1!” she wrote. “Truthfully, The Only Accolade That Truly Matters To ME Is Of The MOST HIGH.”
Regarding Lauryn Hill’s exclusion from the show, Brown wrote: “My Girl L BOOGIE (My Fav) And I, Have The Dopest Convo, Cracking Jokes In Our Caribbean Accents As She Prepares For An Amazing Overseas Tour. So, Actually Guys Let’s THANK @VH1As We Are Definitely #TheDifference.”
Fair or foul?
