A changing of the guard has taken place at BET’s Being Mary Jane.

In the wake of creators and executive producers Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil leaving for a production deal at Warner Bros. TV, the show has tapped Will Packer and Erica Shelton Kodish to steer its upcoming fourth season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Packer will now serve as the show’s executive producer, while Kodish, fresh from the final season of “The Good Wife,” will become “Being Mary Jane’s” showrunner and executive producer. The show still retains star Gabrielle Union and the Akils as executive producers as well.

Being Mary Jane joins a crowded roster in Packer’s production stable, including A&E’s Roots reboot, the Ride Along and Think Like a Man films, and the upcoming ABC comedy Uncle Buck.

“It’s an amazing time to be involved in producing great television, and this is the rare opportunity to work with Gab, who I think is one of the best actresses doing it today, whom I also consider family,” said Packer. “BET is a tremendous partner, and Erica has the perfect skill set to handle a show of this magnitude.”
