Former Spice Girl Mel B (a.k.a. Melanie Brown, a.k.a. Scary Spice) recalled the time she was invited by Prince to interview him at Paisley Park and discovered that he had a children’s playground in a back garden on the grounds.
Speaking to ITV’s Lorraine on Tuesday, the “America’s Got Talent” judge said she found Prince to be “like a little kid at heart.” Asked about his surprise request for the interview, Mel said: “I know that was a bit shocking and I did say to him, ‘Are you sure you have the right person?’ He was like, “No, I want to do this interview.”
“I think he hadn’t spoken publicly for a long, long time so he invited me to Paisley Park and I stayed there for a few days…and he was like, ‘I want you to interview me, you can ask me anything you want.’ And I was like, ‘Oh great I get to ask you anything?’ So we literally got the cameras rolling and had a really nice chat.”
Opening up about the experience, Mel added: “He’s so iconic and his music is going to live on forever, but he’s such an intense creative artist and actually he was like a little kid at heart – when we went on his play area, he has his swing and his slide. I was like ‘this is weird,’ but it was so much fun.”
