You would think you were listening to a recording of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. speaking. Some even say Rev. Stephon Ferguson channels the spirit of Dr. King. Among them are members of King’s family who say Ferguson sounds closer to MLK than anyone they’ve ever heard recite his words.

From the pulpit of historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia to Teatro Lope de Vega in Madrid, Spain, Ferguson has traveled across the US and internationally performing as one of the greatest leaders in the history of the world. He breathes life into the words of Dr. King, captivating people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds by delivering dead-on, pitch perfect renditions. Ferguson has memorized most of Dr. King’s most memorable speeches and sermons and delivers them with the same passion. His mission is to help continue the legacy of Dr. King by not only reciting King’s words but more importantly educating people about his philosophy of love, peace and equality to help bring about positive change.

Born in Albany New York, Ferguson is a native of Fayetteville, NC. He served as a Sergeant in the US Army and later worked as a radio personality and news reporter for 15 years. Ferguson moved to Atlanta, Georgia in the spring of 2011. He is a licensed and ordained minister and currently serves as an Associate Minister at Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. He spends much of his time working with the MLK National Historic Site in Atlanta, GA at Ebenezer Baptist Church, King’s home church, where he gives historical presentations and educates people on the history of the Church and Dr. King. In 2010 Ferguson was certified by The King Center and Emory University to teach the Kingian Nonviolence Curriculum.

Ferguson is licensed to perform as Dr. King by Intellectual Properties Management, Atlanta Georgia, exclusive licensor of the King Estate.

Dick Gregory – “You come at a good time. 50% of the people living in the United States today were not born when King was assassinated. “So, when they hear you, they’re hearing Dr. King for the first time and that’s very important.”

Congressman John Lewis – Following a performance of the I Have a Dream speech in Atlanta, GA – “You got it! You got Him (Dr. King) down packed. I felt it when you were delivering it. You got it!”

Ambassador Andrew Young – Following an event in Monroe, GA commemorating the 42nd anniversary of Dr. King’s assassination – “I closed my eyes and it sounded as if Dr. King was speaking in the room.”

Congressman GK Butterfield – “WOW! It felt like I was right there on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial when Dr. King delivered the speech. I have never heard it quite like that; to sound just like the man himself. That was powerful!

Mayor Marshall Pitts. Jr. – Fayetteville, NC – “I have heard many renditions of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. but never have I heard one as powerful and as moving as the rendition Stephon Ferguson delivers.”

National MLK Park Superintendent Judy Forte –God has truly given him the gift of bringing out Dr. King’s words and reminding us of how personal his words are to us and leaving us with a voice in our head, even today, that tells us there’s still a lot of work to be done.”

Congressman Mike McIntyre –What an absolutely marvelous job you did in delivering the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Everyone was thoroughly impressed with your delivery, clearly a high point for the entire celebration!”

Dr. TJ Bryan – Chancellor FSU – “As Mr. Ferguson’s eloquent voice resonated throughout the auditorium, one could easily mistake his oratory as a recording of Dr. King’s inspiring delivery. He is truly a gifted artist whose talents enrich the lives of others.”

Rep. Tyrone Brooks – “This young man sounds just like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Amazing! He has joined us at GABEO (Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials) on a number of occasions – He has the spirit of Dr. King inside of him.”
