LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Police in Louisiana say officers used a dating app to arrest a man accused of stealing a phone at gunpoint.

The Lafayette Police Department announced in a news release that 27-year-old Leroy Hebert was arrested Tuesday. The Advocate reports officers posed as a woman on a dating app and arranged a meeting with Hebert at a Lafayette hotel.

Police say the owner of the stolen phone told authorities he was robbed at gunpoint by two men Monday night. Authorities say the victim was able to access his phone activity online and found a selfie Hebert took on the phone.

Hebert was booked on a count of armed robbery. It isn’t clear if he has an attorney.

Authorities haven’t identified the second suspect.

  1. Technology really isn’t for the STUPID AT HEART…or CRIMINALS. If your not up on the latest gadget or iPhone, then dude….don’t go there. The moral of the story is…..GET A JOB, GET YOUR OWN, JUST GETTTTTTT! Dumbazz takes a selfie? He deserves to be put under the jail or that special place in hell, and with a gun? ugh… poor black brothers will NEVER LEARN!

    More stupidity:
I saw on the news last night two guys jogging alongside this car in a parking lot, one of the fools pulls out a gun and shoots the passenger and runs to get into a purple car (after market paint job and very distinct, probably one of a kind), while backing into a parking space, obviously an accomplice. All caught on tape from a city camera on light pole. Dumb ass people.
