A kindly group of police officers from Memphis, Tennessee made a child’s Christmas wish come true.

Tontrevion Campbell and his mother were victims of a burglary over Thanksgiving weekend, Today reports. While the family attended church on Sunday, many of the mother’s items were taken, in addition to Tontrevion’s hand-me-down Xbox console and every game he owned.

When Officers Jerry Graves, Antonio Martin, Antwan Cooper, and Justin Bourland arrived to investigate the burglary, they asked the 11-year-old if he could get another Xbox for Christmas. Tontrevion explained his mother had multiple jobs and didn’t want her to worry about getting him another console.

The child’s thoughtfulness and kind words inspired the officers to head to a local GameStop and purchase Tontrevion a brand new Xbox and three games. After the manager heard about the good deed, he paid it forward by giving the officers an extra controller for the boy.

The officers returned to Tontrevion’s home and pretended they found his old Xbox by presenting him with a new one.

His reaction to the big surprise was priceless and moved his mother to tears.

Martin told WMC Action News 5 that his duties as an officer aren’t limited to catching unlawful citizens.

“Just to be able to alleviate some of his stress,” said officer Antonio Martin. “And actually help that family in this time, like Christmas, it really was an overwhelming feeling.”

“Policing, it’s not really just about going into dangerous situations,” said officer Martin. “It’s definitely about helping out the community as well.”

The Memphis Police Department shared the story on their Facebook page and Major Anthony Rudolph of the Crump Station thanked his officers for the good deed.

“My guys came in from their duties tonight knowing they made a difference in this young man’s life, not by buying a new game, but by simply showing this random act of kindness. I am sure this little guy will never forget their kind gesture. These officers are going home tonight knowing that they did a good thing,” Rudolph wrote.
