It was reported last December that ANTM runner-up Yaya DaCosta split from her husband of two years, Joshua Bee Alafia. The news came on the heels of YaYa getting her big break portraying Whitney Houston in a Lifetime biopic. Now, Page Six reports that the 32-year-old has filed for divorce from her movie-director husband, and it could get nasty.

YaYa filed papers for a contested divorce against her ex in Manhattan Supreme Court on Thursday. The couple share a 15-month-old son, Sankara. As the publication notes, the filing is sealed, so it’s unclear why the couple called it quits.

DaCosta was the second-place finisher in the third season of “America’s Next Top Model.” She would go on to continue to make a name for herself on the big and small screen, acting in “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” and appearing in episodes of “All My Children” and “Ugly Betty.” The beauty will also appear in 2016’s “The Nice Guys,” opposite Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe, and she will star in the new NBC medical drama “Chicago Med.”

Alafia’s credits include “Cuban Hip Hop All-Stars,” “Let’s Stay Together,” and “One Night Stand.”

YaYa’s breakout role as late singer Whitney Houston was marred in controversy and criticism, most especially from the singer’s family. When the project was announced, Cissy Houston made a statement about the anticipated film, revealing that she just wanted her daughter to rest.

“Lifetime has chosen to go ahead with the movie about Whitney in spite of my family’s objections,” Houston told ET. “No one connected with this movie knew Whitney or anything about her relationship with Bobby.”

Houston continued, “In the two years since Whitney’s death, many people have stepped forward to speak about their close relationship with her. I find it difficult to believe people who knew and supposedly loved her would participate in a movie about her done by folks who didn’t know her. We are exhausted by the continuing misinformation and comments offered by people who did not know her. Please, please let her rest.”

Shortly after DeCosta’s rep confirmed her separation from Joshua, Yaya shared a quote on Instagram: “The more you love your decisions, the less you need others to love them.”

Alafia and DaCosta, who exchanged vows in an outdoor wedding in Pennsylvania in June 2012, have yet to comment on their breakup.
