Saturday, November 7th Oprah’s OWN network will take a look at more than six decades of music from the Isley Brothers.  Ronald Isley and Ernie Isley of the legendary group will take the stage at the Apollo Theater to perform their biggest hits. Additionally they have released a 23-disc box set that will include all of their hits from 1959 to 1983.

Ron Isley talks to the Tom Joyner Morning Show about the group’s long-standing record of never missing a show and how they started tons of musical traditions.

“We’ve never missed a gig…to this day. Every time going to work, we just felt like we’ve got to be there. And we were having fun doing it.”

Incorporating slow and uptempo songs on separate side of records:

“We sort of started that in 1976. That was on the Heat Is On. We had one side with slow and everything on the other side was uptempo.”
