Professional boxer Yusaf Mack‘s appearance in a gay porn video is coming back to bite him in a big way as he claims the whole thing resulted from him being drugged.
In an interview with the Philly Daily News, Mack spoke out about the X-rated video while stating that he is very straight, a father of 10 children and even engaged to be married.
“My whole life, I’ve been what they call a whoremonger,” the 35-year-old the West Philly native said. “I love females. The only time I touch a man is when I’m in the ring fighting.”
The video in question features Mack in a threesome with two other men. According to the athlete, he doesn’t remember shooting the sex tape and is convinced he was drugged.
Detailing what happened, the Daily News noted that the incident resulted after Mack responded to someone who reached out to him on Facebook, asking if he would be willing to participate in a porn shoot. Short on cash, Mack agreed to be a part of the shoot and boarded a train in June from Philadelphia to New York.
When he arrived at a Bronx apartment, Mack found himself among many naked women who were walking around.
“I think, ‘It’s about to go down.’ I needed a drink or something,” he said. “They gave me a pill and a shot of vodka. I took the pill down with the vodka.”
From there, things get cloudy, as Mack doesn’t remember anything aside from waking up on the train back home with $4,500 in his pocket. The impact of what Mack did dawned on him later as one of his friends pulled him to the side and told him about the tape after he noticed how people were either treating him differently or looking away from him.
It was then that Mack first heard about the gay porn video. The site goes on to speculate that the drug Mack may have been given was GHB (gamma-Hydroxybutyrate), a party drug known for lowering inhibitions and causing memory loss, or another similar party drug.
“It’s entirely possible because [GHB is] a sexual stimulant and some people take it voluntarily to enhance the sexual experience…. It’s entirely possible to perform and yet not recall,” Trinka Porrata of Arizona’s ProjectGHB.org, which runs a GHB help line told the Daily News.
For Mack, the current challenge for him involves moving past the shady incident and being “a better father to my kids.” Despite this, he admits that the children were already asking him about the sex tape.
“I’m just hurt right now,” he said.
