They made a lot of news recently when they were unceremoniously kicked off the Napa Valley Wine Train for laughing and having a good time.
In their first televised interview since the incident on August 22, members of the book club “Sistahs on the Reading Edge” sit down with “The Real” hosts to discuss what happened and the intense social media reaction that followed – including the inspiring the hashtag #laughingwhileblack. Here is one of the highlights from the show.
Jeannie Mai: Allisa, I want to ask through this experience, what would you like others to learn about the way that you ladies took a stand?
Allisa Carr: What we want people to learn is to just be careful of your biases of other people and how you view a group of people when you’re around them. And how you use your power, if you’re in a position of power to make decisions that will then render and how it will affect other people’s lives that’s what we want. We want this not to happen again.

Allisa: We don’t want our children… You know, Lisa has a granddaughter. You know, we’re talking to Ms. Katherine, about things that have happened in her life. I have a son that’s in college. We don’t want this to happen to anyone else again..
