A dispute between siblings in Texas almost turned fatal when a 61-year-old woman allegedly threatened her younger brother with a knife after he ate her barbecue ribs.

Ethel Jean Banks was arrested on Sunday evening at the Austin home she shares with her brother, Melvin Magee. Unbeknownst to Magee, he ate Banks’ ribs, causing her to go into a rage, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports. During an argument that turned physical, Magee pushed his sister backwards. Banks then ran into the kitchen and allegedly pulled out a 10-inch butcher knife, threatening to harm her brother.

The AJC reports:

Banks held the knife over her head aggressively and told Magee, “I’m going to kill you,” the affidavit said.

She charged at him with the knife and Magee ran out the front door of the house, closing the door behind him and holding it closed. After she attempted to open the door a few times, Banks told Magee she would not let him back into the house. Magee then went to a neighbor’s home and called 911, the affidavit says.

After speaking with police, Banks changed her story about ever possessing a knife. She also said Magee pushed her into a dresser, causing injuries to her stomach. She refused medical attention and was charged with aggravated assault for family violence.

Police discovered this wasn’t the only time Banks threatened someone with a knife. Back in June, she reportedly pulled a knife on another family member.

We wonder which food item the person ate that time…

Ok so this took place in Austin TX, however, it was reported in the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Looks like it was a slow news day for a lot of reporters, smh.
