Dear Tom,

Sixteen months ago, my 32 year-old daughter went to the hospital for outpatient surgery on her foot.   She never came home as she passed away while the hospital was administering the anesthesia.    She left behind a husband and an 8 month-old little girl, Lailah Renee.

My son-in-law was having issues with my granddaughter’s child care, so my husband and I decided to turn our tragedy into triumph and open a child development center…Cribs 2 Crayons in St. Charles, Missouri.  This allowed us to take care of our granddaughter during the day, ease our son- in-laws mind and provide affordable, reliable daycare for other parents.

I’m asking for playground equipment as my Christmas wish.    We have been licensed for a center that could care for 100 children, however, we are focusing only on 40, so our granddaughter and the other 39 children can be in a safe and nurturing environment.

We have a huge outside play area, but after all of the items we had to purchase for a new facility, playground equipment was not at the top of the list.   it’s a joy to see the children running around outside, but I would love to be able to purchase some little tikes play houses, swing sets and activity centers for toddlers and small children, ages 2-6, so they can expand their minds and learn inside—and lose their minds and play outside!

Visited the daycare yesterday. Shook hands with the Executive Director. Toured the facility with the Activities Coordinator. Went over some paperwork with Mr. and Mrs. Dye. Pledged some books for the library named after Vanessa. Heard all about the State and County regulations. Got a brochure with pricing and Mission Statement. Inquired about temporary stay when my granddaughters visit. And, oh yeah, used the new ADA accessible restroom. Seemed pretty true and real to me. Can’t wait to see the new playground equipment. Love the TJMS, God Bless!!!

  2. Congratulations to you and your family! This is a fantastic gift that touches so many people. Keep looking forward to many more blessings!

The truth is the statement Mrs dye made about helping her son- in- law and granddaughter with day care is a lie because we take care of lailah and she is not now or has not ever attended daycare of Mrs bev.
