Singer Avery Sunshine is performing tonight at the Southern Heritage Classic Festival, in Memphis, Tennessee, where she’ll open for Anthony Hamilton, Fantasia and Johnny Gill. The Chester, PA born singer who has hit with her second album The SunRoom says that she’s been enjoying her success by trying to achieve some personal goals.
“I’ve been trying to get my mind right and lose some weight…but I’m not not going to be able to do it,” she laughs. “I’m just going to be chunky and sexy,” she said. Memphis has proven particularly tempting because of its ubiquitous barbeque spots.
But she does get some exercise lately after learning how to do one of the summer’s most popular dances.
“I can’t dance,” she says. “I just learned to do the Nae Nae. You know my kids taught me.”
